Questions
Frequently asked
The questions we get most, answered straight. If yours is not here, call us — we would rather tell you on the phone than have you guess.
General
About working with us
We work across Central New Jersey, including Bridgewater, Warren, Hillsborough, and the surrounding towns. If you are just outside the list, call and ask — we will tell you honestly whether we can get to you reliably.
No. Estimates are free and done on site, because we cannot price a property accurately from a satellite photo.
Both. Residential work runs from single visits to full-season care, and commercial grounds are contracted to a written scope.
That is the reason we merged Apex Washing, Apex Lawn Care, and Apex Snow Removal into one business. You deal with one company for the whole property, all year, instead of chasing three.
It depends on the season and the service. Mowing can often start the same week, while snow and holiday lighting are contracted ahead of their seasons. We will give you a real date, not a vague one.
Plans
Plans and billing
PLACEHOLDER — state your real terms here: month to month, seasonal agreement, notice period, and what happens if someone wants out mid-season.
PLACEHOLDER — confirm whether upgrades and downgrades are allowed, and when.
PLACEHOLDER — describe your real billing cycle and the payment methods you take.
We quote it separately and tell you the price before we do it. Nothing gets added to an invoice you did not agree to first.

Hardscape services questions
Paver Patios
Most residential patios run several days to about two weeks, depending on size, access, and how much excavation is involved. You get a schedule up front.
Often yes. Bring us the name if you have it, and we will source it or find the closest current equivalent.
Polymeric sand dramatically reduces it. Nothing outdoors is completely weed-proof, but a properly sanded joint stays clean with very little effort.
Walkways & Steps
Yes, and it is usually worth it. Older walks are often too narrow for two people to walk side by side.
Steps yes. Railings we will coordinate, since they are usually a separate trade.
Typically a few days, depending on length and how much of the base needs rebuilding.
Retaining Walls
Above a certain height most towns require one, and some require an engineer. We will tell you where your wall falls before we start.
Sometimes. If the base is sound it can be rebuilt from a point; if the base failed it needs replacing. We will tell you honestly which one you have.
Yes — seat walls around a patio are one of the most used features we build.
Drainage & Grading
Usually grade, soil compaction, or roof water with nowhere to go — often all three. The assessment tells us which one is driving it.
It very often helps, because most basement water starts as surface and roof water at the foundation. If it looks like a job for an interior waterproofing contractor instead, we will tell you that.
Trenching does disturb turf. We keep it as narrow as the job allows and restore the surface once the drain is in.
Residential
Residential services questions
Lawn Care & Mowing
Weekly through the main growing season, easing to bi-weekly in high summer and late fall when growth slows. We follow the grass, not the calendar.
No. As long as we can reach the yard we service the property and let you know the visit is done.
We move to the next dry day that week. Cutting saturated turf tears the grass and ruts the soil, so we would rather come a day later.
Landscape Maintenance
Double- and triple-shredded hardwood in black, brown, and red, plus natural undyed options. We can bring samples to the estimate.
Most properties do well with visits through the growing season plus a mulch refresh once a year. We will tell you what yours actually needs.
Yes. An overgrown bed usually needs one heavier reset visit, after which regular maintenance keeps it easy.
Property Clean Ups
Spring once the ground has dried enough to work without tearing turf. Fall once the bulk of the leaves are down, usually late in the season here.
Yes, unless you would rather we leave it for municipal pickup.
Yes. They are priced separately. Most properties benefit from both, but it is your call.
Plant & Sod Installation
Sod gives you a finished lawn immediately and holds a slope while it roots. Seed costs less and suits large areas if you can wait. We will tell you which your property actually calls for.
Spring and fall both work well here. Fall is often better for sod and shrubs — warm soil, cooler air, and less heat stress while roots establish.
Constantly. Deer pressure is heavy across much of the county. Nothing is truly deer-proof, but there is a wide palette they consistently leave alone.
Poly Sand & Paver Restoration
Most patios want it every few years, sooner if they get heavy rain runoff across them or frequent pressure washing.
Polymeric sand dramatically reduces it. Nothing outdoors is completely weed-proof, but a properly locked joint stays clean with very little effort.
Sometimes. It deepens the colour and helps with staining, but it has to be redone periodically. We will give you a straight answer for your surface.
Exterior House Washing
Not with soft washing. High pressure forces water behind the panels and can etch the surface, which is exactly why we do not use it there.
Most homes here do well every one to two years. North-facing and shaded walls grow back faster and may want annual attention.
We pre-wet and rinse all plantings, and treated areas are safe once dry. We will flag anything that needs to stay clear for a short time.
Window Washing
Yes. Interior and exterior together gives the best result, since dirt on either side reads the same from a distance.
Twice a year suits most homes. Once a year is enough if the house is sheltered.
Usually yes. We will confirm what is reachable when we look at the property.
Gutter Cleaning
Twice a year for most homes here — after the leaves drop in fall, and again in spring. Heavily wooded lots often want more.
Yes, and we tell you what we find. We would rather flag a loose hanger now than have you find it during a storm.
Usually. Tell us the type when you call — some come off easily, some do not.
Aeration & Overseeding
Early fall is ideal in New Jersey — warm soil, cooler air, and less weed pressure while the new grass establishes. Spring is the second-best window.
Keep it watered through germination. That one thing decides whether the seeding takes.
Yes. They look untidy for a week or two, then break down and return to the soil. Removing them wastes the benefit.
Snow & Ice Removal
At an agreed trigger depth, with return passes on longer storms. We will set the exact terms in the winter agreement.
Yes. Routes are set before the season so we can commit to real response times. Mid-storm calls usually cannot be fitted in.
Ice melt on walking surfaces is included. Driveway treatment can be added.
Holiday Lighting Design & Installation
Early autumn. Installation slots through November and December fill up well before the season starts.
No. We will discuss options at the design stage.
Call us and we come out. Keeping it lit through the season is part of the service.
Commercial
Commercial services questions
Commercial Lawn Care & Mowing
Send us the current scope and we will quote against it line for line, so you are comparing like with like.
Yes. We provide a certificate of insurance naming your property before work begins.
A fixed day, agreed up front. Predictability is most of the value.
Commercial Landscape Maintenance
Yes, on one agreement and one invoice.
Yes. We will schedule around your operating hours and peak periods.
Yes — rotations can be built into the contract or quoted per installation.
Commercial Property Clean Ups
Yes, and most sites are better off with it scheduled rather than called in.
Yes, where access and noise restrictions make that the better option.
That depends on size and access. We will give you a real timeline at the walk-through.
Commercial Snow & Ice Removal
At an agreed trigger depth, with return passes on longer storms. Exact terms go in the winter agreement.
Yes. Documented timing matters if a slip claim is ever raised.
Yes. Routes are committed ahead of winter so response times are real.
Commercial Power Washing
Only temporarily, and we plan the sequence around your hours so the entrance is never the part blocked at your busiest time.
Most sites do the full flatwork annually, with entrances and drive-thru lanes more often because that is where it shows.
We will confirm at the walk-through. If there is no usable spigot we bring our own.
Commercial Exterior Washing
Only temporarily, and we plan it around your hours to keep disruption minimal.
Most sites do well annually. High-traffic entrances often want more than that.
Yes — it can be scheduled annually as part of the grounds agreement.
Commercial Window Cleaning
Monthly suits most retail and food sites. Offices often run quarterly.
We will confirm what is reachable at the walk-through. Anything needing rope access or a lift we will tell you about up front rather than on the day.
No. It is quick, and we schedule around your open hours.
